In a surprising turn of events, Joe diGenova, a longtime ally of Donald Trump, has resigned from his position leading the Department of Justice investigation into whether former law enforcement and intelligence officials conspired against the Republican president. The resignation, announced on Thursday, has injected immediate uncertainty into an inquiry that has been a top priority for Trump.
Who Is Joe diGenova and Why Did He Resign?
Joe diGenova is a former U.S. attorney and a vocal supporter of Donald Trump. He was appointed to lead the DOJ's investigation into an alleged conspiracy against Trump by former officials. He appeared to be referring to concerns among other Trump loyalists that the president's retribution cases were not moving quickly enough.
