The Trump administration has launched a sweeping attack on leftist violence, with top officials hosting a gathering of 66 nations to discuss what they call a resurgence of political extremism. The conference, convened by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and attended by adviser Stephen Miller and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, focused exclusively on crushing leftwing activism.
What the Conference Revealed About Leftist Violence
Rubio used unusually harsh language, describing leftists as "enemies of civilization" and "an encroaching darkness." He accused them of seeking to "tear down what is beautiful and what is right." The officials did not address rightwing attacks, including the January 6 Capitol riot.
