Tottenham's Attacking Woes Continue in Draw at Nottingham Forest 2026

Tottenham's attacking woes continued as they drew 0-0 at Nottingham Forest, failing to score for the third consecutive league match. The result leaves Spurs searching for answers under Roberto De Zerbi, with the team managing no shots on target.

Spurs' Goal Drought Deepens

For the third successive league match, Tottenham failed to score, and this time they did not even muster a shot on target. Excluding a 5-1 win against a Charlton B team in the Carabao Cup, their season so far reads: five goals against and none scored. This alarming trend has raised concerns among fans and pundits alike.

The lack of firepower was evident as Dominic Solanke, a late substitute, headed onto the roof of Matz Sels's net on 88 minutes—that was as good as things got for the visitors. Tottenham's attack looked disjointed, with few clear-cut chances created throughout the match.

Nottingham Forest's Disallowed Goal

For a couple of minutes, Nottingham Forest thought they had added to Tottenham's goals-against tally, but Neco Williams was adjudged to have handled when stooping to head in on the goalline. The incident occurred as Sandro Tonali and Jan Paul van Hecke attempted to prevent Morgan Gibbs-White's deflected effort from bobbling into the net.

The decision sparked debate, with Forest fans believing the goal should have stood. However, the referee's call stood, leaving the match goalless.

De Zerbi's Positive Start but Persistent Issues

The mood music surrounding Roberto De Zerbi has been overwhelmingly positive since the Italian arrived at the end of March and led the rescue mission; see the Birra Moretti-themed flag on show in the away end here. Yet, Spurs still struggle in front of goal, a problem that De Zerbi must address quickly.

Where was all the firepower? Last season's top goalscorer, Richarlison, is training separately from De Zerbi's first team after rejecting an offer from Everton and was not in Spurs' 25-man squad. His absence has left a void in the attacking lineup.

New Signings Fail to Spark

There were glimpses of quality from Spurs debutant Savio, a £75m arrival from Manchester City, but they were just that—glimpses. The Brazilian winger showed flashes of brilliance but failed to produce a decisive impact. Meanwhile, Mykhailo Mudryk arrived as a late substitute for his first competitive appearance for 645 days, but he too could not change the game's outcome.
